关于Alberic Barbier
在丫丫店里看到这个品种,资料非常简单“强健且漂亮.....改天传具体的资料...”
想了解更详细的资料,比如花多大,香不香,一季还是多季?

Order Roses Online: Rambler 1016 Alberic Barbier1900 We often wonder whether Mons. Barbier and Dr. van Fleet corresponded much, as their breeding programs took much the same direction at the same time. Mons. Barbier’s namesake, ‘Alberic Barbier,’ has the same healthy green foliage and rambling vigor that we’ve come to expect from the early Wichuraianas. The pale, yellow flowers are brightest in bud, yet their open double flowers, while barely yellow, are extremely attractive. Enhance this with a fragrance reminiscent of fresh apples and a lovely cascading habit, and you have a rose which can be beautifully grown as either a climber, rambler, or groundcover. 15 to 20 feet Z5-9 O Fr w Availability: In Stock all roses are $18.95 number:

Alberic Barbier
Irregularly shaped double blooms open cream from apricot and yellow buds and then fade to gardenia white. Perhaps the most famous, and certainly the hardiest, of the wonderful Wichurana Ramblers. We have this rose going up in a tall Doug Fir where it receives just a bit of dappled sun. Blooms are more sparse in such a situation, but the effect, of party lanterns arrayed along the branches, is enchanting. In a sunny situation there is a massive display of bloom over an extended period in the spring with occasional individual blooms later in the season. The lax habit would make great ground cover on an embankment, etc. The dark green glossy foliage with slender, crimson new growth is evergreen in our Zone 8 gardens and always handsome.

The rose books rave about this rose...and EVERYTHING they say about it is absolutely true. I've got four of them, and I could never tire of it. Create a spot for him, he's incredible.

What fortuitous luck!!!
I have an Alberic Barbier band due in the post today (or tomorrow).
At this point my mind is split on how I should use this rose, so your input is more than welcome.
One thought is to highly train and prune the rose on swags of chain ("festoons") as described by Stephen Scanniello in this book "A Year of Roses".
The other thought is let it go as "wild" and rambling as possible. Along one of my property lines I've made a "rose wall", where I've taken redwood 4x4s (17ft above ground) cross braced them with 2X4s and the run wire across. These hold 2 Cecile Brunner Climbers.
I am going to make more "rose wall" structures on our other property line, and I'm wondering if an Alberic Barbier would work in this fashion? In the Public gardens I've seen him in, he's never been left to get "natural sized".
And I'm not sure about the "lax canes" which make it so good for uses like "festooning". The Cecile Brunner builds up a lot of strong wood and is rather self supporting, so having an esentially "open" structure...with 12 ft of wire running in 12 inch increments works very well. Do you think Alberic Barbier would respond to this kind of treatment, or would it require more support?
Lastly, left more or less unclipped, will Alberic Barbier get really full? Ideally this "rose wall" would provise a near total screen from our neighbor's home.
A bombardment of questions for sure. But I know of no one growing one Alberic Barbier, much less four.
Appreciate any feedback,
Bill

I'm with everyone else (except Patrick): an utterly beautiful, wonderful rose. It's extremely easy to root from cuttings, by the way, and grows fine on its own roots. We have two growing into trees on the edge of woods. In the shade the flowers seem to be looser and almost translucent, and are--can such a thing be?--even lovelier than when the rose is growing in full sun; and the foliage of the trees shows in greenish tints in the flowers. 'Alberic Barbier' is a once bloomer, but last year my neighbor's rose, that I gave her and she planted on the low fence enclosing her vegetable garden, got fooled by good feeding and a non-existent fall into a full second flush.
I'm glad you like your roses, Robert. If you decide to live in Italy one day come and pick up some cuttings.
Melissa
